Healthy Summer Dessert: Gingersnap Banana Frozen Yogurt

Looking for a healthy yet sweet treat? Banana frozen yogurt is a fun trend that is bound to satisfy your dessert cravings. Instead of reaching for your favorite pint of ice cream, use bananas and frozen yogurt to make a healthier treat that is just as satisfying. Frozen yogurt is a healthier option because it typically contains less calories, carbohydrates, sugar and fat than regular ice cream. Be sure to choose your yogurt wisely, the less processed and added sugars the healthier. You can even consider making a similar frozen yogurt dessert by simply blending frozen bananas.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla frozen yogurt, softened
  • 6 gingersnap cookies or graham crackers, chopped
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • ¼ cup of your favorite nut variety (optional)

Directions

  • Slice bananas and chop gingersnap cookies or graham crackers.
  • Layer equal portions of frozen yogurt, chopped gingersnaps, bananas and nuts of your choice into 4 small dessert cups or glasses.
  • Freeze until the yogurt is firm, at least 10 minutes. You could also stir in chopped gingersnaps or graham crackers, sliced bananas and toasted nuts into softened vanilla frozen yogurt for a quick, family-pleasing dessert.
